Wind Prospecting

From 2009, with financial support from FAPESP, we develop the design of a Meteorological Station with the purpose of obtaining information to analyze the wind potential of a given region (can also be used for other meteorological studies). It is a flexible data logger system, autonomous, and low cost which can be totally configured by software. The equipment has GPRS communication, SD card with large storage capacity, lightning protection, up to twelve speed anemometers,  four direction anemometers and plus another set of analog sensors such as, barometer, humidity, temperature and others.

We have an updated database with historical data from our own stations and other network totaling approximately 500 stations through the country. We have developed methodologies for data analysis and identification of potential sites, as well as capacity for detailed calculations and estimations of power generation through wind power by conventional models and simulations of computational fluid dynamics. The technology and methodology developed can give us detailed and more accurate data than those found in the Wind Atlas available and enable us to study wind behavior of microsites to design wind farms and calculate its power generation with better precision.

We have installed the stations on towers up to 75 m high in association with companies, investors and farmers. In 2010, we initiated the phase of commercial availability of our prospecting services.
